PURPOSE:To obtain high performance recording properties which can be stable over a long period of time and a high C/N ratio by providing a two-layer structure comprising, as a lower layer, a layer having a high C/N ratio and formed of Te-Se and a specific third or/and fourth component added thereto and, as an upper layer, a layer of Te-Se two-component system superior in resistance to oxidation. CONSTITUTION:An optical information recording medium according to the invention comprises a substrate and a recording layer thereon comprising in turn two layers. A first layer of this two-layer recording layer is a thin film mainly comprising Te and Se, and at least one element selected from a group consisting of Ti, Ag, Pb, Sb, Bi, In and Al is added to the main component. The formation of these elements in the first layer depends on applications, but in order to obtain a high recording sensitivity and a high C/N ratio it is generally desirable to add 5-20at.% of Se and less than 10at.% of the other elements than Te and Se. A second layer of the recording layer is a thin film comprising only two components; Te and Se. In order to maintain a proper resistance to oxidation, it is desirable that the Se content of the second film has to be 10at.% or more, and preferably 15at.% or more. |
