PURPOSE:To make water refill as maintenance of a battery easy and certain and prevent deterioration and damage of the battery due to liquid exhaust by cumulatively calculating the charging time after the battery voltage of the charger has attained a certain level, thereby sensing that the specified time is attained and that charging is started, and carrying out refill of water. CONSTITUTION:A battery charger is of automatic type, wherein a voltage relay is actuated when the battery attains 58.2V and charging is stopped when 4hr has passed. At the same time as the battery voltage becomes 58.2V and a timer is actuated, another timer starts counting (cumulatively), and setting is made to 60hr as is =15X4, ex., and a signal of valve opening is emitted when counting on the timer (cumulative) attains 60hr and the next charging is commenced, and then the counting timer itself is restituted to zero. The total (cumulative) charging time to be set differs according to he surplus amount of electricity to be supplied every time charging is made and the amount of liquid to be water refilled, so that the setting can be determined case by case. To stop automatic refill, a timer may be used, or signal from a liquid level gauge incorporated in the elementary cell also be used. |
