The invention relates to bicycles. This brake comprises two jaws 2 which are provided with blocks 4 and which pivot on two parallel pins 3 and are returned elastically to a rest position. A flexible cable 10 and its sheath 9 act in a direction which is contained in a plane which is equidistant from the two pins 3. The cable and its sheath are both capable of moving and actuate two elements 8, 12 which themselves actuate the jaws 2 to bring the latter together. At least one of the elements consists of a cam 12.
