ARTIFICIAL ACCESSORY ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE: To obtain a shell-stiffening material adapted to the rigidity of the bone of a living man by forming a supporting material or stiffening material of a synthetic plastic material reinforced with fibers having a modulus of elasticity higher than the modulus of elasticity of a bearing liner. CONSTITUTION: The bearing liner 1 has a partial spherical bearing surface 3 for the head of the artificial outfits for the hip joint and has a polar line X-ray wire 5 within a polar wire groove 6. The polar wire groove 6 is formed on the inside surface of the supporting material or stiffening material 2 to form a non-rotating lock between the liner and the stiffening material 2. The bearing liner is formed of ultra high-mol.wt. polyethylene, polyacetal or epoxy resin and is reinforced with polyester fibers. Polybutylene terephthalate is used for the synthetic plastic material of the supporting material or stiffening material and is reinforced with short fibers having random orientation. The short fiber reinforcing material consists of carbon fibers which have an average fiber length in a range of 100 to 1000μm and an average fiber diameter of 3 to 15μm and are shaped to exist in the amt. up to 40wt.%. The supporting material or stiffening material has rigidity in a range of 0.5 to 50GN/m<2> and thickness in a range of 1 to 50mm.
