PURPOSE: To provide a golf club which is light in weight and high in strength by incorporating graphite whiskers having a small sp. gr. therein. CONSTITUTION: The graphite whiskers 14 are incorporated into the matrix material 13 of the club head 12. Synthetic resins, metals, ceramics, etc., are used for the matrix material 13. When thermoplastic resins, such as ABS, polycarbonate and polystyrene, the head 12 is produced from resin pellets contg. the graphite whiskers 14. The graphite whiskers 26 are incorporated into the matrix material 25 of a face insert 24. The golf club 40 formed by reinforcing the matrix resin 32 of the shaft 31 of the golf club 30 by the graphite whiskers 34 is made lighter in weight and higher in strength by incorporating the graphite whiskers 44 into the elastic rubber 43 of its grip 42. |
