<p>PURPOSE:To prevent any crack from occurring by forming a gap along the outer periphery of a filter in a vessel, thereby allowing exhaust gas, after passing through the filter, to flow through the gap. CONSTITUTION:A gap 3 is formed along the outer periphery of a filter 1 in a vessel 2. The inlet side of the gap 3 is sealed by Interlam III mat 8a. The outlet side of the gap 3 is opened through a clearance of Interlam III mat 8b. Exhaust gas passing through the filter 1 flows from the outlet side to the inlet side of the gap 3. Thus, it is possible to reduce temperature gradients occurring on the outer periphery wall of the filter 1 so as to prevent the occurrence of any crack.</p> |
