The present invention relates to devices for scooping up objects having a substantially rounded base. The device according to the invention is characterised essentially in that it comprises a baseplate 1, means for moving the baseplate with respect to a ground surface 5, a platform 7 including an end point, the point including a lower reference surface, means for mounting the said rotating platform with respect to the baseplate, means 57 for driving the said platform in rotation with respect to the said baseplate, means 58 for measuring the distance 30 of a point 31 of the said platform to the ground surface 5 on which the baseplate is able to be positioned and for delivering a signal whose value is a function of this distance, and means 52, 42, 44, 48 for controlling the means of driving the platform in rotation as a function of the signal delivered by the distance measuring means.
