This process is characterised by the fact that enzymatic reactions are performed under anaerobic conditions, between a mycoplasma liquid growth medium which serves as medium for diluting the fluid sample to be analysed and, on the one hand, a first substrate comprising dehydrated urea in the presence of a coloured pH indicator, also in dehydrated form, and, on the other hand, a second substrate comprising arginine, also in dehydrated form, in the presence of a coloured pH indicator, and that the rate of the enzymatic response is monitored by noting the time corresponding to the change in the colour of the indicators, the respective quantities of urea and arginine, on the one hand, and the concentration and the nutritive components of the said growth and dilution medium, on the other hand, being chosen beforehand and calibrated such that, for ureaplasma urealyticum present at supra- or infrapathological levels, the change in the colour of the coloured indicators is obtained or otherwise after a determined period of time.
