PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of unevenness in a finish surface, by a method wherein, when it is detected by a polishing amount detecting means that a polishing amount of a grinding stone amount attains a given value, the direction of rotation of the grinding stone is switched through a switching means by means of a switching control means. CONSTITUTION:By controlling a teaching device 19 serving as a control means, a grinding stone 15 is moved along a surface 16a to be machined of a work 16 as it is rotated forwardly or reversed, and a polishing route is stored in the memory means of a control panel 17. Play back polishing is applied on the surface 16a to be machined as the grinding stone 15 is rotated forward or reversed by means of an air motor 14 along the polishing route. When it is detected by a polishing amount detecting means that a polishing amount of the grinding stone 15 attains a given value an air fed port to the air motor 14 is switched by means of the switching control means of the control panel 17, and the direction of rotation of the grinding stone 15 is inverted. Patterns remaining on the surface to be machined are offset by each other and unevenness in a finish surface can be prevented from occurring. |
