PURPOSE:To obtain a modified polyvinyl chloride composition added with a number of cyclized maleic anhydride groups, by kneading a vinyl chloride polymer, maleic anhydride, a methacrylic acid ester and a radical initiator under heating. CONSTITUTION:The objective modified polyvinyl chloride composition is produced by kneading (A) 100pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride polymer having a polymerization degree of 600-3,200 with (B) 0.2-20wt.% of maleic anhydride, (C) a methacrylic acid ester having a molecular weight of <=250, preferably <=220 (e.g. methyl methacrylate or 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate) in an amount equimolar to the component B and (D) 0.2-5wt.%, preferably 0.3-3wt.% of a radical initiator (e.g. methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) using a Banbury mixer or a pressure kneader, etc., while heating at a temperature above the decomposition temperature of the component D. |
