<p>A three-plate liquid rheostat can be used for high power and high current applications. It has a modular construction for each phase. Each phase module consists of an insulating cylinder, fixed and moving electrodes, conductors, and feed-through terminals. The modules are fitted into a case such that each module is distinct from another module and that the current or power of the device is a multiple of the number of modules. The rheostat also has a circulating pump which takes the electrolytic liquid from the rheostat and feeds it back to the upper part of the insulating cylinders of each phase so as to increase heat dissipation.</p> |
