A compression device for X-ray and similar examination comprises a unit 1 which is displaceable along a patient table 2 between a parking and a usage position. This comprises a reeling device having rollers 7,8 which are movable in blocks 3;4 on each side of the table. A belt 5 made from flexible material runs between the rollers. Compression is achieved by means of a drive mechanism 11, the two rollers 7,8 being driven simultaneously. Following completed compression and exposure, the belt 5 is actuated by a mechanism which guides the said belt to a position at a distance from the table in which the patient can easily leave the table. Alternatively the unit can be pivotable about an axis in the block 4 provided with the drive mechanism 11. <IMAGE> |
