The invention relates to a structural element for erecting walls, having two connection surfaces (12, 14) arranged on opposite sides, one of the connection surfaces (12, 14) being provided with at least one groove (16) and the other connection surface (12, 14) being provided with at least one tongue (18) which is intended for interacting with the groove of a further structural element. The structural element (10) has, moreover, at least a first cavity (20) which connects the two connection surfaces (12, 14) to one another, is open at both ends and whose central longitudinal axes intersect by groove (16) and tongue (18). The invention is characterized in that groove (16) and tongue (18) are widened in the region of the cavity (20). Furthermore, the first cavity (20) exhibits, in a manner known per se, in the region of one end, a widening (22) towards the opening and, at its other end, a peripheral continuation (24) which projects out of the plane of the groove (16) and tongue (18). Said continuation (24) can be introduced into the cavity widening (22) of a further structural element (10). <IMAGE>
