The invention relates to a sleeve for sealing a protective cable conduit or the transition zone between the protective cable conduit and a cable emerging therefrom. The sleeve is formed as a stepped sleeve. The individual stepped sleeve segments can be cut off and moreover braced against the protective cable conduit or cable using tension bands. Sealing between the protective cable conduit and cable is thereby achieved in a simple manner and without problems with mechanical means, even in the case of different external diameters of, on the one hand, the protective cable conduits and, on the other hand, the cables. <IMAGE>
