There is proposed a hand-held power tool, e.g. a hammer drill, having a motor-driven air-cushion percussion mechanism in which the percussion mechanism is driven via a gearing with coupling. The coupling is constructed as a wrap-spring coupling. It has a drive hub driven by the drive motor, an axially adjacent driven hub with approximately the same outside diameter, and a wrap spring which is held on both hubs, wrapped around them, in a clamping manner. The wrap-spring coupling is constructed as a clutch coupling. At the winding part seated on the drive hub, the wrap spring has a transversely projecting switching finger, on which engages a switching device, automatically actuable by hand and/or by the machine, which stops said switching finger for the purpose of uncoupling and frees it for the purpose of coupling. The wrap spring coupling makes it possible to switch the percussion mechanism on and off path-dependently with a minimum travel requirement and without special axial pressure force. <IMAGE>
