PURPOSE:To prevent generation of stain and to save consumption of water by regulating the amt. of replenished liquid to a water-washing stage and/or a stabilizing stage to 1-50 times basing on the amt. brought from a preceding bath per unit area of a photosensitive material to be processed, and regulating also the amt. of Ca compd. contained in a photography constituting layer to <=a specified amt. expressed in terms of Ca. CONSTITUTION:The amt. of replenished liquid to a water-washing stage and/or a stabilizing stage is regulated to 1-50 times basing on the amt. of liquid brought from a preceding bath per unit area of the photosensitive material, and the amt. of Ca compd. to be contained in a photography constituting layer is regulated to <=25mg expressed in terms of Ca per unit area of the photosensitive material. The photography constituting layer means a silver halide emulsion layer, intermediate layer, protective layer, etc. The amt. of the liquid brought from the preceding bath means a volume of the liquid of the preceding bath brought into a water-washing stage and/or a stabilizing stage by being adhered or occluded to the photosensitive material, which is calculated by extracting the component of the preceding bath by dipping a photosensitive material sampled just before it is introduced into the water-washing or stabilizing bath in water, and determining the amt. of the preceding bath in the extracted liquid. By this method, generation of stain is prevented and the amt. of water to be used is saved. |
