A medical apparatus for cutting or coagulating tissues by means of a single laser, especially an Nd:YAG solid laser, has a resonator comprising a totally reflecting laser mirror and an output mirror with the laser substance in between. The resonator selectively emits radiation producing different tissue interactions depending on the wavelength, by adjustment of optical elements, the beam path between the laser substance and the output mirror being collinear for radiation of different wavelengths. In order to achieve simpler switching-over from one wavelength to another, the invention describes laser arrangements having unchangeable optical elements which become alternately effective by insertion of diaphragms or filters.
