PURPOSE: To prevent the decrease of durability while keeping driving stability in cornering, driving and braking properties by improving the penetration of rubber into the cord under a specific steel twist structure, and regulating the physical properties of the cord so as to satisfy a prescribed relation. CONSTITUTION: This steel cord is obtained by twisting 3-4 strands obtained by twisting (n+3)-(n+5) steel filaments (n is the number of steel filaments of a strand core) around the strand core composed of 2-3 steel filaments together to provide a strand-sheath layer, in the same direction as that of the strand- sheath layer. The wire diameters of the whole steel filaments are same and within the range of 0.05-0.10 mm, and the obtained steel cord has <=8.5 K-value (=S/E×1/Y) calculated from the strength S (kg/cord) of the cord, breaking elongation E (%) of the cord, and flexural modulus Y (kg.mm) of the cord.
