The invention relates to a spur-wheel change-speed gearbox, particularly for motor vehicles. A spur-wheel change-speed gearbox known, for example, from German Offenlegungsschrift 3544415, has six forward gears with five synchronisable selector clutches which are operated individually. For this purpose, each selector clutch is assigned a special actuating element. These must be actuated individually and it is furthermore necessary to take special measures to ensure that an incorrect gear change does not bring one selector clutch into action before the corresponding selector clutch is out of engagement. This leads inevitably to jamming of the gearbox. To avoid this disadvantage, the proposal is, in a spur-wheel change-speed gearbox, that the actuating elements (25, 26, 28, 29, 32, 33) of respective pairs of selector clutches (c, e; d, f; g, l; h, j) corresponding to one another should be connected firmly to one another by mechanical means, that the two gearwheels (9 and 12) rotatably mounted on the input shaft (5) should be connected rigidly to one another at all times, e.g. by a hollow shaft (11), and that it should be possible to connect the two gearwheels (13 and 14) rotatably mounted on the output shaft (8) to one another selectively by way of a hollow shaft (13a) and by way of a selector clutch (1). <IMAGE>
