The invention discloses a fishing rod comprising a main rod portion (1), a plurality of intermediate rod portions (3a-e), and a tip (2), so that the intermediate rod portions (3a-e) and tip (2) can be housed in or pulled out from the main rod portion (1), wherein a padding portion (33) is provided at the outer surface of the front of the intermediate rod portions, at the outer surface of the padding portion (33) is provided a fitting surface (34) of a predetermined length and about uniform in diameter and in contact with the inner surface of the front of the main rod portion (1) to impede the intermediate rod portions from moving in the pulling-out direction.
