351,379. Mounting steering wheels of vehicles. ARATO, A., 47, Corso Francia, Turin, Italy. Nov. 24, 1930, No. 35330. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1929. [Class 79 (v).] The rotarv stub axle 3 of the wheel 4 is mounted in a swivelling box or casing 2 provided with diametrically-opposed lugs 6 each of which forms, with the casing, a seating for a prong 11 of the fork formed on the end of the fixed axle 1, each of the swivel pins 8 on which the casing 2 is pivoted passing through corresponding holes formed in the lug, the adjacent prong, and the body of the casing. The steering pivot can thus be arranged in the central plane of the wheel while the wheel spindle or axle 2 rotates in bearings 5 of ordinary dimensions arranged one on each side of the pivot. An extension (not shown) is formed on the casing 2 to which a steering arm is fixed. |
