PURPOSE:To obtain a compact flection type catalytic converter of optimum shape for a car body mounting part by forming a catalytic carrier unit with end face in oval shape in a manner wherein the center axis of a cylinder obtains an angle corresponding mutually to a flexed part, to be combined in quantity of two or more units. CONSTITUTION:This flection type catalytic converter 1 is formed by cutting a linear type catalytic converter to be fitted, providing two or more catalytic units 2-7 containing cell aggregates 8-13 acting respectively as a catalytic carrier. The adjacent catalytic units 2, 3 (description omitted for the other) are arranged in a manner wherein their center axes obtain an angle 2alpha in accordance with a flexed mounting part, and cutting an end face of these units at an angle alpha with respect to the radial direction, the oval-shaped end face is cut and fitted in a manner wherein its major axis coincides. In a seam 14 of both the catalytic units 2, 3, the units are integrally formed by welding or the like of the outer cylinders. |
