The invention pertains to an oil drain fitting for internal combustion engines which permits a quick draining of the oil. A body [10] threaded into the conventional oil pan drain hole [9] includes an axial passage [12] having a tubular valve [30] reciprocally mounted therein. The valve [30] is open at its lower end [34] and closed at its inner end [36] having a head [38] which seats against the inner end [16] of the body [10]. The lower end [34] of the valve [30] includes an abutment surface [48] for engagement by a drain conduit fitting for axially displacing the valve [30] inwardly to open the valve and permit flow therethrough. A cap [54] may be mounted on the body to enclose the lower end of the valve when the fitting is not in use.
