PURPOSE:To use solidified shell as a dummy bar by arranging a bottom plate turning as centering the turning supporting point at lower end of casting space formed with one pair of circulating bodies and the fixed side plates in belt type continuous casting apparatus and laying cold material on the bottom plate. CONSTITUTION:The bottom plates 5, 5', which vertically moving as the arrow mark with driving devices 7, 7' as centering the turning supporting points 6, 6', are fitted to the bottom part of the casting space consisting of both circulating bodies 1, 1' as belts for casting long side faces of the cast slab in the belt type continuous casting apparatus and both side fixed plates 2, 2' for casting short side faces. After laying the cold material 11 of scrap, etc., on this bottom plate 9 in a tundish and solidified shell 12 is formed by cooling with the cooling material 11. Next, the bottom plates 5, 5' are turned as centering the supporting points 6, 6' and descended to open the bottom part of the above casting space, and the solidified shell 12 is descended as the dummy bar and also the continuously cast slab is shifted downward and drawn by circulating of the circulating bodies 1, 1'. |
