The parameter-monitoring system according to the invention is intended to provide information on the state of the vehicle during and/or at the end of at least one operating period of the vehicle (1). This system comprises a detection unit (2) and a data acquisition unit (3), mounted on the vehicle (1), on the one hand, and on the other a processing unit (4). The detection unit (2) measures data relating to the parameters to be monitored, the acquisition unit (3) gathers these data and transmits information to the processing unit (4) which processes them and compares them to reference information in order to provide information on the state of the vehicle. At given times the acquisition unit (3) gathers a set of data relating at least to the load loss in a filter of the vehicle's engine oil so that the system is capable of supplying the rate of change of this load loss over a period of time which in particular allows the degree of contamination of the vehicle's engine oil to be determined. <IMAGE>
