<p>PURPOSE:To execute encoding whose compression efficiency is satisfactory by constituting the titled system of a code showing a pattern and a code for showing a rotation of its pattern and its symmetrical state, etc., and also, changing the respective code lengths in accordance with a state that the pattern can take, and setting them to a prescrived code length. CONSTITUTION:An original image 0 is divided into 4X4 blocks, and the respective blocks are encoded to a block code having a pattern code for showing a pattern structure of its block and a state code for showing a rotation of its pattern and its symmetrical state, by an encoder 1. Also, at the time of executing a rotation by 90 degrees, a processing is performed to the state code for showing a rotation mode of each block code by a rotating device 5, and the block code itself is converted to a block code of a pattern which has rotated a pattern of the original block by 90 degrees. In such a way, by decoding the block code which has been brought to rotation processing, by a decoder 3 and reproducing an image, a 90 degree rotated image R of the original image 0 can be obtained.</p> |
