PURPOSE:To obtain a hair growth agent, containing a derivative or precursor of a vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) and expectable of mass production at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:A hair growth agent containing a derivative (X is Leu) or precursor (X is Met) of a VIP expressed by the formula (X is Met or Leu) as an active ingredient. The above-mentioned hair growth agent is used in a dosage form of lotion, cream, ointment, etc., and the amount of the afore-mentioned blended active ingredient is 0.001-2.0wt./vol.%, preferably 0.01-0.5wt./vol.%. The compound expressed by the formula can be obtained by using a well-known solid- or liquid-phase method. Since the C-terminal is a carboxyl derivative (natural VIP is amidated), the compound has possibility of mass production by genetic recombination. |
