A composite metal article is made by placing a low melting temperature metal to serve as a core within a shell of a high melting temperature metal and containing and sealing the core without oxides within the shell. The assembly is then transported to a shaping die where the containerized ingot is heated to soften the core and is then formed to the shape imposed by the die. During the cooling period, the shell is reformed to the core to maintain tight contact and bonding.
