EXPERT SYSTEM FOR MACHINE TOOL CONTAINING NC DEVICE

PURPOSE:To ensure the trouble diagnosis service given from an expert system with no increase of the cost of an NC device by providing a knowledge base and an inference mechanism on an external device which is communicatable with the NC device. CONSTITUTION:When a trouble occurs, an operator starts an inference mechanism ADPR of an external device 14 at the side of an NC device 11 via a telephone circuit 17. Thus the ADPR starts its trouble diagnosis processing and a diagnosis command is sent to the device 11. Then a prescribed conversation screen is displayed on a CRT of a conversation means (man-machine interface) 11f by a diagnosis command executing means DGPR. At the same time, the input data are sent to the ADPR of the device 14 via a communication means TCPR. Hereafter the inquiry and the input of data necessary for trouble diagnoses are repeated together with conversations carried out between the mechanism ADPR and the means 11f via the circuit 17. Then the factors of troubles are identified based on the technical knowledges stored in a knowledge base IB.
