PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of a rotary electric machine by providing a commutation member at a cooling air outlet and a branching member for guiding cooling air to the side of a vent passage. CONSTITUTION:A vent passage for exhausting cooling air is formed radially in a rotor, a branch guide 13 is disposed in the vent passage 51 in a pole, a commutation vane 14 is disposed at the outlet of the vent passage 51 between the poles, and the cooling air is formed to have speed component of tangential direction of the rotor. Accordingly, high speed air which remains dynamic pressure of a throat is forcibly branched via the branch guide 13 into two directions between the poles faced at the outlet of the throat 33, and flowed along the heat transmission surface 61 of a field coil 6 to be cooled, thereby improving the cooling efficiency. |
