PURPOSE:To obtain a device for which a nonlinear optical effect in an optical communication and optical information processing field is applied by using a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:The compd. expressed by the formula is used as the org. compd. of the nonlinear optical material consisting of an org. compd. system. In the formula, n is 6, 7, or 8 and the sufficient performance as the secondary nonlinear material is not obtd. if n is <=5 or >=9. A large second harmonic wave is developed only in the case of n=6-8. The material for building devices for which the nonlinear optical effect is applied, for example, wavelength conversion elements, optical modulators, optical amplifier elements, etc., is thereby obtd. |
