PURPOSE:To obtain a nickel positive plate having steady utilization by charging and discharging a plate impregnated with active material comprising nickel hydroxide in an alkaline solution containing a cobalt complex. CONSTITUTION:A plate impregnated with active material comprising nickel hydroxide is charge and discharged in an alkaline solution containing a cobalt complex to manufacture a nickel hydroxide positive electrode for an alkaline storage battery. The cobalt complex existing in the alkaline solution is uniformly deposited on the nickel active material in charge-discharge and the utilization of the nickel positive plate is increased, and its quality is also stabilized. To uniformly depositing the cobalt complex, the total amount of alkali used in charge-discharge is requested to increase. If alkaline solution containing cobalt oxide produced by heating and dehydrating cobalt hydroxide in an inert atmosphere is used, the cobalt complex is supersaturated and the total amount of alkali used in charge-discharge can be reduced. |
