PURPOSE:To manufacture an oxide system superconducting wire of superior superconducting characteristics with a long size and continuously by applying heat treatment to an oxide system superconducting powder in a molding die for forming a sintered body and covering the outer shoulder of the sintered body with a metal material. CONSTITUTION:A high tensile core A is inserted from the upper end of the feed cylinder 3 at a powder feed part 1 and made to pass through a molding die 7. And a superconducting powder C is filled in the feed part 1. Then, a screw 4 is turned, thereby filling the powder C in the die 7. In this case, the powder C is compressed and bulk density is thereby increased. And a high-frequency heater 8 heats the core A and the powder core is subjected to heating treatment at the predetermined temperature during the predetermined time, thereby obtaining a sintered body D comprising a superconductor. Thereafter, a metal tape E is paid out, inserted in a molding machine 9 and made to travel in a P direction. Consequently, both ends of the tape E when coming out of the molding machine 9 are abutted to each other. The abutted part is welded, a cylindrical body is made and the sintered body D comprising the superconductor is inserted therein together with the cylindrical body. And the cylindrical body is reduced in diameter and a superconducting wire B is thereby formed.
