The subject of the invention is an extensible support device, the extension and shortening of which result from actuating an air pump and a valve. The device includes a tubular body of rectangular or square cross-section 1, closed at its two ends and fixed vertically by a screw 11 or by a flange making it integral with the object to be raised; an air chamber 2, a set of two U-shaped sections 3 which are kept parallel by two sets of two linkages 4, arranged in a scissors configuration; a concertina device 5, whose hinges 6 are equipped with rollers 7 sliding in the sections 3 and whose lower hinge supports, at its middle, a vertical rod 8 which slides in an opening 9 made in the lower horizontal plane 10 of the tubular body 1, and ends in a runner 12 for bearing on the ground. This device, when used as a foot or mounted as a prop, particularly makes it possible to raise or incline a bed or bedbase or armchair. <IMAGE>
