The invention relates to a heater of the infrared type, especially intended for the agriculture sector for heating stock-rearing buildings and comprising a radiant plate 2 integrated into the interior of a reflector 1 and associated with a mixing chamber, a filter 36 connected via an air-inlet pipe 37 to the mixing chamber, a safety valve 6 connected to the mixing chamber via a gas-injection pipe 12 and including a member for keeping its flap in the open position, which member is slaved to a temperature detector 8 and a manual button enabling the said flap to open, a controlled valve 13 slaved to a thermostatic member 14, and a pilot-flame injector 17 which is arranged facing a radiant plate 2 and with which temperature detector 8 is associated, and a pilot-flame pipe 16 connecting the safety valve 6 and the pilot-flame injector 17 and comprising pressure-reducing means capable of bringing the pressure at the said injector back to a predetermined value. <IMAGE>
