<p>An open topped tank having two sides and two ends and wherein the tank has a length greater than its breadth, at least the sides of the tank each having an outwardly curved shape from top to bottom where the curve is in accordance with the formula: DA = K/cos A x DY x (Y+DY/2), where, DA = change in angle of tank side; K = ratio of the density of the liquid to be held in the tank multiplied by the acceleration due to gravity divided by the tensile strength of the material from which the tank is to be made that is D x G/T; DY = change in depth; A = angle of the tangent at the centre of DY; Y = depth from the liquid level in the tank.</p> |
