The safety device for the water inlet in household appliances and the like consists of two electromagnetic (solenoid) valves arranged in series at the water connection. The first solenoid valve, the one remote from the appliance, is provided with a known servocontrol and the second solenoid valve is provided with a closure plate which can be raised from the valve seat by the magnetic drive only in the unpressurised condition. <IMAGE>
