PROCESS FOR THE THERMAL TREATMENT OF METAL ALLOYS

The invention refers to processes for the treatment of metal alloys, particularly for the treating matrixes for the production of profiles, in which the metal alloy is finished to a roughness lower than 60 RMS or, preferably, a maximum roughness of 3,15 RA mu m, and thereafter the material is nitrided in an alkaline or earth alkaline metal cyanate bath under a combination of conditions which result in the obtention of high wear and peeling resistances as well as effective hardness of the treated surface.
