Electrostatic build-up is suppressed in vehicles including aircraft by a regulated exchange between the vehicle and the surrounding atmosphere. A metallic mass (X), which is set on neutral earth potential and sheltered within a Faraday cage and insulating material, feeds to one FET, along with a vehicle body input (1) to a second FET, of a bridge circuit which includes a comparator. Unbalanced FET inputs to the bridge enables the comparator output to turn on one or more Greinacher-Bouwers-Cockcroft cascades. Restored balanced FET inputs then act to turn off the cascade(s). |
