PURPOSE:To guide a printing paper along a platen by using an ink ribbon and to easily replace a ribbon cartridge, by enabling a printing head to take a third position in addition to a printing position and a rest position. CONSTITUTION:At the time of a printing operation, an ink ribbon 5 is supported by a second guide lever 8 in the state of being protruded to a position separate from a platen 1 to such a degree as not to interfere with the feed of a medium, and is supported in contact with the platen 1 by a first guide lever 7 on the medium outlet side of a printing head 6. With this construction, a printing paper (medium) is securely guided in feeding thereof along the platen 1, without slackening, by the ink ribbon 5. At a rest time, the ink ribbon 5 is supported in contact with the platen 1. On the other hand, a second guide lever 8 fixed to a printing head 6 is moved slightly away from the platen 1, together with the head 6. At the time of replacing a ribbon cartridge 4, the tip of the guide lever 7 is retracted away from the platen 1. In this condition, the cartridge 4 is replaced. |
