A supporting loop used by a person for holding on to in a means for transportation has a flexible holding strap and a two-part bearing which fixes the end sections thereof in position and of which one bearing part can be rotated about an axis of rotation on the other, fixed bearing part so that the holding strap can be pivoted out of a rest position into an in-use position. According to the invention, the end sections of the holding strap are each fixed in position by a bearing part, and as the rotatable bearing part rotates, it can be guided away from the fixed bearing part towards the axis of rotation, as a result of which the distance between the end sections of the holding strap is increased.
