PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting material with the deterioration of its characteristics prevented, by mixing a specified set of feed stock powder followed by calcination, grinding, forming and sintering with metallic thin film formed on the surface of the sintered form to prevent the reaction of the sintered form with water. CONSTITUTION:A set of feedstock powder including of yttrium oxide, copper oxide and barium carbonate is mixed followed by calcination. The resulting calcined product is ground followed by forming. Thence, the resultant form is sintered followed by forming a metallic thin film (e.g. of silver, copper) on the resulting sintered form by means of e.g. sputterling, thus obtaining the objective superconducting material with stable characteristics. The thickness of said metallic thin film may be such as to be sufficient to ensure waterproofness (pref. ca. 2-10mum). Thus, such a phenomenon as to give the reaction of formula by water absorption of the sintered form can be prevented. |
