A matrix compn. for transdermal drug administration contains a mineral oil, polyisobutylene (I) and at least 6% colloidal SiO2. The ratio of the oil to the polymer is at least 1.0 and the viscosity of the mixt. is at least 1.5X106 Pa. An adhesive compn. is prepd. contg. 47% mineral oil, 27.8% low mol. wt. (I), and 22.2% high mol. wt. (I)[mineral oil: (I) is 0.94 and 3% clonidine. Addn. of colloidal SiO2 to this system increased the viscosity.
