PURPOSE:To manufacture an Fe-Cr-Al alloy foil excellent in oxidation resistance by rapidly cooling a molten alloy with a specific composition to form into a sheet-like state, subjecting this sheet to normalizing treatment and further to rapid cooling down to a specific temp., and then applying cold rolling to the above. CONSTITUTION:A molten Fe-Cr-Al alloy which has a composition represented by a general formula Fe100-x-y-zCrxAlyMz [where M means at least one element among Ti, V, Nb, Zr, Ta, Mo, W, Mn, and B and the symbols (x), (y) and (z) stand for 15.0-35.0wt.%, 1.0-15.0wt.%, and 0.03-3.0wt.% respectively] or the one further containing rare-earth elements including Y by 0.01-1.0wt.% is rapidly solidified into a sheet-like state of about 0.2mm thickness by a double roll method. The resulting sheet is subjected to normalizing treatment in a hydrogen-gas atmosphere at 850-1,200 deg.C, cooled down to <=200 deg.C at >=200 deg.C/min cooling rate, and then cold-rolled so as to be worked into a foil of about 0.05mm thickness having smooth surface and excellent in oxidation resistance. |
