PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic exhibiting excellent ultraviolet-protecting effect while suppressing the whiteness of the skin and effective in giving refreshing feeling to the skin, by using a 3-octahedral smectite and a transparent sol produced by dispersing ultrafine titanium oxide particles in a water-polyhydric alcohol system, as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic contains, as essential components, (A) a transparent sol (abbreviated as titania sol) produced by dispersing 1.0-30.0wt.% of ultrafine titanium oxide particles having a maximum diameter of <=60mmu and an average diameter of 5-25mmu in 99.0-70.0wt.% of an arbitrary mixture of water and a polyhydric alcohol and (B) 3-octahedral smectite. The content of the titania sol is 0.01-20.0wt.%, preferably 0.05-10.0wt.% in terms of titanium oxide and that of the smectite is 0.1-10.0wt.%, preferably 0.5-6.0wt.%. |
