PURPOSE:To prevent the expansion of a cell and the reduction of the final discharge voltage caused by the repeated charge and discharge by arranging an activated carbon fiber layer on the back side of a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:An activated carbon fiber layer 5 is arranged on the back side of a positive electrode 4. The activated carbon fiber layer 5 has large porosity and can be elastically deformed, thus even when the thickness of a negative electrode is increased by the pulverization of the negative electrode after the repeated charge and discharge, it can be cushioned. The expansion of the cell itself can be prevented. Since the activated carbon fiber layer 5 has a large capability to hold an electrolyte in its voids, the held electrolyte can be discharged and fed to a separator by the pressure due to the expansion of the negative electrode section. The separator is prevented from being put in a dry state, the increase of the internal resistance of a cell can be prevented, and the final discharge voltage can be increased. |
