PURPOSE:To form rust inhibitive films having excellent adhesiveness on the cut faces of steel sheets subjected to various surface treatments by coating a resin contg. specific fine particles on the cut faces and further, thermally spraying specific metals or alloys to said faces. CONSTITUTION:The surface treated steel sheets such as metal plated steel sheets, painted steel sheets and laminated steel sheets are subjected to working such as slitting, shearing, and blanking and many sheets of such steel sheets having the cut faces after said working are tightly superposed on each other to expose the cut faces and to minimize the spacings between the steel sheets. The compsn. contg. the fine particles of Al2O3, SiC, BN, etc., having 5-200mum average particle size at 25-400vol.% ratio of the resin such as acrylic resin or styrene resin is coated at 10-300g/m<2> ratio on the cut faces to form the films having 30-200mum surface roughness (Rz). The metal such as Zn or Al baser than steel or the alloy thereof is thermally sprayed at a low temp. onto the films by an arc thermal spraying machine in a reduced pressure. The films having an excellent rust inhibitive effect and large adhesion are formed without impairing the appearance of the cut faces of the steel sheets. |
