MAGNETO-OPTIC ROTATAR FOR PROVIDING ADDITIVE FARADAY ROTATIONS IN A LOOP OPTICAL FIBER

The two straight portions of the loop of optical fibre are oriented such that the direction of propagation of the light wave, relative to the magnetic induction, in the first portion is opposite to that in the second portion. The linear birefringence provided in a third part of the loop, joining the first parts, is sufficient to transform the direction of polarisation of the lightwave. The fibre is twisted and/or exposed to the magnetic field to produce circular birefringence.
