PURPOSE:To simultaneously execute elimination of covering and wiping-off, and to obtain a satisfactory connection characteristic by attaching a wiping-off tool to each covering eliminating blade, so that opposed faces of the wiping-off tool come into contact with each other, when the covering eliminating blade is closed. CONSTITUTION:A wiping-off tool 20 is fixed with a screw, etc. to the upper and the lower covering eliminating blade 18, respectively, so that the wiping-off tool 20 and the covering eliminating blades 18 are opened and closed simultaneously. In such a state, (1) the covering eliminating blades 18 are opened, and an optical fiber 10 is inserted. (2) Subsequently, the covering eliminating blades 18 are closed, and a covering 14 is flawed. (3) Thereafter, a fiber holder 16 is drawn to the rear and the covering 14 is eliminated. In such a case, since the wiping-off tool 20 is also closed, dust and a residual foreign matter on the whole surface of a glass part 12 can be wiped off. That is, by only a forward and backward mechanism of the optical fiber 10, and an opening and closing mechanism of the covering eliminating blades 18, elimination of the covering 14 and wiping-off can be executed simultaneously, and a satisfactory connection characteristic can be obtained. |
