PURPOSE:To improve adhesion of an alumina layer by providing an alumina layer at least on one side of a metallic material through a layer of metal oxides comprising metal alkoxides or metallic salts of alkyl acetonates to form a substrate for use in a catalyst carrier. CONSTITUTION:A substrate for use in a catalyst carrier is obtained by forming a layer of metal oxides composed of one or more kinds of metal alkoxides or metallic salts of alkyl acetonates at least on one side of a metallic material and coating said layer with an alumina layer, wherein said layer of metal oxides is preferably formed with metal alkoxides of Al, Zr, Ti, Si, Y, Ce or metallic salts of alkyl acetonates. The metallic material is preferably formed of a plate of stainless steel, heat resisting steel or nickel. Further, the thickness of the alumina layer is preferably 1-10mum and 0.005-0.1mum for the layer of the metal oxides. |
